Self-Storage

Childress Klein develops and manages multi-story, climate-controlled self-storage facilities across the Southeast. We launched our SpaceMax self-storage brand in 2005 and bring experience from 22 developed facilities, 13,989 units and more than 2.1 million square feet of self-storage space, with locations in metro Atlanta, Charlotte, Greenville and Nashville.

Led by Partner Chris Poholek, our self-storage team targets densely populated, fast-growing areas with strong rental rates. We handle site selection, entitlements, design, development and construction in-house, and as a privately held, financially strong company, we invest for sustainable long-term value.

In 2019, Life Storage formed a joint venture with Childress Klein that acquired and rebranded six SpaceMax facilities. Today we manage 13 properties, including SpaceMax Storage Charlotte, SpaceMax Storage Greenville and LifeStorage Hapeville, and we continue to look for new communities to serve.

All of our facilities include the following features:

• Humidity and temperature controls
• 24-hour surveillance
• Over 60 security cameras
• A wide variety of unit sizes
• Covered loading area
• Business and personal storage
• Controlled access
• After hours access
