As Partner and Director of Office Property Operations, Portia runs the day-to-day business of Childress Klein’s office portfolio: 26 properties and 4.5 million square feet, managed for CK, its partners and its clients.

She leads the property management and office accounting teams, and her work reaches across the portfolio, from parking operations and CK’s receivership business to construction and project management. CK’s 15 outside partners count on her as a key point of contact, and she oversees their reporting.

Portia’s career at CK started as a one-month plan. She joined in 2000 as a temporary accounting assistant, expecting to move on to another firm. She never left. She worked her way up through the Office Division as staff accountant, accounting manager and assistant controller, and became office division controller in 2015. In 2024, CK named her Director of Office Property Operations and a partner.

Along the way, Portia has changed how the division works. She broadened CK’s accounting services and led two major accounting software conversions, bringing in a purchase order system and electronic workflows for accounts payable and contracts. She has also led accounting for some of Charlotte’s most complex office developments, including Lowe’s Tech Hub, Duke Energy Center, the Wells Fargo Cultural Campus and LPL Financial’s Southeast headquarters.

A Certified Public Accountant, Portia brings deep expertise in tax preparation, countywide property tax appeals and asset valuations, and she works across Yardi, MRI, Colonial, CTI, Skyline and Timberline. Outside the office, she serves on the board of Florence Crittenton Services.
