On Wednesday, Oct. 26, Childress Klein’s Lash Group Headquarters and VA Center were among 18 real estate development projects honored at the Charlotte Business Journal’s Heavy Hitters Awards for excellence in Commercial Real Estate.

The third-annual awards recognized projects that were substantially completed between June 30, 2015, and July 1, 2016, across several categories: office, flex, warehouse, healthcare, mixed-use, apartment, commercial space buildout, and hospitality and entertainment.

The five-story, 250,000-square-foot Lash Group Headquarters at Kingsley Park in Fort Mill is a joint venture of Childress Klein and Clear Springs Development Co. When the new headquarters opened in March, Lash relocated 1,200 employees from LakePointe Corporate Center in Charlotte to Fort Mill and expects to add another 1,200 employees over the next several years for a total of 2,400 employees by 2020.

Located off of Billy Graham Parkway, the $104 million Veterans Affairs Health Care Center opened in April. Covering 430,000 square feet and six stories, the new VA Center features ultramodern design and tools to serve the region’s veterans, which is one of the fastest-growing in the country. Childress Klein partnered with Cambridge Healthcare Solutions on the project.
