Growth and Sustainability

Childress Klein Properties is committed to bettering the communities in which it does business. Part of that commitment is a dedication to providing buildings that enhance the quality of life, without having a detrimental impact on the environment in these communities in which we live and raise our families.  

A testament to that commitment is the number of employees who have earned LEED Accredited Professional status from the US Green Building Council. This knowledge and experience was applied in the building of the Duke Energy Center, the tallest LEED Platinum certified office tower in the Southeast, which we continue to manage in an environmentally responsible way.   

Our Current Efforts

As a company, we use many hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles. We also promote ride sharing and public transportation. The EPA has recognized many of our buildings with the ENERGY STAR. This commitment to energy efficiency initiatives helps us achieve positive environmental stewardship and helps us lower energy costs.

Childress Klein Properties’ employees recycle paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum and glass and we encourage and provide recycling opportunities for tenants.

In our office buildings, we have implemented green cleaning products and equipment to help reduce the use of harsh chemicals and create a safer working environment.

Many of our buildings use high efficiency fluorescent lamps and compact fluorescents. We also participate in lamp-recycling programs to prevent lamps from entering the landfills.

We are in the process of switching to low flow fixtures in the restrooms of our office buildings.

We have implemented irrigation controllers, which automatically adjust to help reduce overwatering.

Experienced Landscape management has been an important focus at all of our properties. We promote practices that lead to sustainable landscapes, which reduce the need for excessive supplemental irrigation, fertilizers, pesticides, and maintenance.
